As many of you probably heard on Hellgate Guru and countless other websites, it seems Hanbitsoft has fired all FSS employees and is now in ownership of the I.P. of both Hellgate: London and Mythos.

While we have yet to read an official statement from both parties involved, the work on HGL and Mythos is obviously halted. No one knows yet if, when and how it will resume its course.

While Hellgate had its share of problems, Mythos has received positive reviews from dozens of previewers, which would probably indicate Hanbitsoft will keep on developing it.

In the meantime, wait and see.

Well, now that the Mythos Conclave is in public light…

We are proud to present its entry into the Mythos Fansite Community with a community-wide event, to which everyone is invited!

Introducing the Mythos Conclave Round Table, an IRC open discussion regarding individual Mythos gameplay mechanics and elements. Each encounter at the Round Table will feature a new topic, with our first topic being the latest news on Mythos’ development cycle: The Overworld.

The discussion will begin at Saturday, May 10th at 7 PM Eastern Time (GMT-5) and will run for about an hour.

Everyone who is a fan of Mythos, whether in Beta, waiting for an invite, or even on the Development team will be invited to attend.

So what, exactly, is this Round Table discussion?

Basically, it is an open, topical discussion on an aspect of Mythos. Everyone who attends is welcome to watch, but encouraged to chime in and express his or her viewpoint on the subject.

The goal of the discussion is to gather a pool of information and form a general consensus of player and fan opinions regarding important MMO or Action-RPG gameplay mechanics, how they are implemented in Mythos, and how they affect the game. All devevelopers able to attend will also be encouraged to join the conversation, discussing what they seek when playing online games or what they would like to see in that topic out of Mythos in the future (regardless of if it actually is planned or not).

Essentially, this event is a community event to serve as a dual purpose to announce the Mythos Conclave’s entry into the community and welcome passionate players to share their viewpoints on the game.

All information discussed in the Conclave’s Round Table will be logged and posted on the Conclave after the discussion.

So we look forward to seeing you in the Mythos IRC Saturday night at 7 PM Eastern Time for the Mythos Conclave Round Table! (I’ll add a Java Link when I can find it again.)

Massively.com has a new article up where they detail the crafting system in Mythos.

Crafting itself is simple to pick up — just hit R and spend points in the crafting tree. You’ll see that it is impossible for a single crafter to become an expert in more than one or two skills. The skill trees themselves are oddly split — training in Swords and Axes gives you no abilities to create Spears and Polearms. Master the crafting of chest armors, but that will do you no good when it comes to making shoulders and helms. Focus on becoming the best cobbler in Uld, but don’t expect that skill to carry over into the scribing of Heraldries.

Few Mythos related articles have popped up around the web:

The Guardian Unlimited and Stratics Central both have their gameplay experiences up online.

Lagorama, a gaming blog, also has their experience up, however one interesting thing that it reports on is a small teaser from Travis Baldree from the official forums, which is a hint that a more WoW like camera view is to be added into Mythos.

Yes, finally, a new update for Mythos’ Beta is available. As usual with Mythos, the list of new features is longer than a longcat:

- PvP: The Shadowlands, a war-torn copy of the usual Mythos world, where everyone can attack each other ! Dueling is back too.
- Mail system !
- Crafting system: a series of quest and a new panel let you access hundreds recipes, along with three skill trees for crafting !
- The Cyclops are now available as a race, and all races now feature racial bonuses !
- Countless (really) tweaks and improvements to the UI, skills, graphics, options, controls, zones, etc.

Flagship better brace for impact, because when this game enters open beta, it is gonna be hugely successful !
